Editorial Policy

Every article carries a Verified date in its byline. Verified means every citation on the page was re-opened and checked against the primary source on that date — the statute, the opinion, the dataset — not that the page was skim-read. Pages are re-verified at least every 12 months, and immediately if a source is retracted, corrected, or seriously challenged by later work.

If you think something here is wrong, tell us. Email us with the page and the problem. We check reported errors against the primary source. Where we are wrong we correct the page and note the correction and its date at the foot of it. We do not quietly edit and move on.

We would rather be told we have overstated a finding than be too lax.
